 Dear FBC Family,
God blessed us with a great day this past Sunday! I am always glad and grateful when God adds to our FBC family through new members. I hope you will always make an effort to get to know our new members ASAP.
Mother’s Day. What are the thoughts and feelings that come to mind when you hear or think about the word “mother”? For me it conjures up positive images of listening ears, a smiling face, tender hands that sought ways to serve, encouraging words and a sincere faith in Jesus. If you ever get the chance to get to know Ramona Akins, I am convinced you will agree (as I love to say—if there is anything good in me, it is due in large part to “the big three”—Ferris and Ramona Akins and Kathleen, my beautiful wife!).
Here are some wonderful “motherhood” quotes:
•     "A mother is not a person to lean on, but a person to make leaning unnecessary." -- Dorothy Canfield Fisher
•     "So when the great word 'Mother!' rang once more,
I saw at last its meaning and its place;
Not the blind passion of the brooding past,
But Mother -- the World's Mother -- come at last,
To love as she had never loved before --
To feed and guard and teach the human race." -- Charlotte Perkins Gilman
•     "There was never a great man who had not a great mother -- it is hardly an exaggeration." -- Olive Schreiner
•     "A mother's arms are more comforting than anyone else's." -- Diana, Princess of Wales
·         “A mother understands what a child does not say.”
·         “I regard no man as poor who has a godly mother.” -- Abraham Lincoln
·         “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother” -- Abraham Lincoln
“Honor your father and your mother so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” (Exodus 20:12)
Grateful for my Mother,
Marty
